Sanderson Cottage
Circa. 1680, you're awakened to find your village in a panic over a missing girl-child. You don't care for gossip, but there's talk of a cottage buried deep in the woods. Whispers tell of green and purple smoke rising from the chimney, said to be signs of evil at work. Witches, as they're most commonly known, are suspected to live and conjure there. You're not the cynical type, but this town is, and you decide to see for yourself if such a cottage even exists.
You wade into the woods. All is still quiet and calm as the sun has just barely broken dawn, but in whips a howling gust of wind. The howl continues and it begins to not sound like wind anymore, but a voice. A beautiful voice that's no longer in the air, but in your head. It guides you, lures you to the edge of the forest where you see an old cobblestone cottage with a watermill, a warm flickering glow pouring out the open windows, as is the voice you were following. You look up at the chimney through the trees to see thick purple smoke rising up into the dawn sky, and you know this is no longer village madness.
It's just a bunch of hocus pocus.
